This post is long overdue. This 2018 I've made a resolution to pen down milestones and achievements of this growing baby! We have come a long way from where we started. You can read about the blog post about our journey here.
Faye Cahill is a name that needs no introduction in the caking world! And her beautifully crafted cakes are a masterpiece for each occasion.
Her studio is based in Sydney, Australia. Faye’s wedding cakes are a work of art with finely detailed work, application of design and harmony that are tailored to reflect individual personalities. Each cake is designed specifically for the couple, you can view her work of art here
Faye also has a passion for teaching her techniques in both local and international workshops. We at The Quirky Taste hosted her last September 2017 for her first debut in Malaysia! It sure was a dream come true to meet her in person (star struck – for many meeting an actor/celebrity might do it but for us this was it!). The months of planning, preparation, the anticipation, the late nights of “thinking too much” was ALL WORTH IT!
The students learnt a lot from Faye who shared so many tips and tricks in achieving that flawless look to create that beautiful cake!
Let’s get down to details of the class.
15th September 2017, Friday
The first day of class. Students arrived early – all those eager beavers who were pumped up to learn! It was the Navy & Rose Gold Cake!

All the tools and required equipment’s were prepped. Students started their work at sharp 10am. Faye showed them how to make her signature flowers and a great fool-proof method of fondant stripes application! Everyone was so enthusiastic, engaged and asked all the questions from her!

The final outcome were gorgeous! The students did so well and their masterpiece was marvelous!

16th & 17th September 2017
The two days – Wedding Essentials 3 tiers started off bright and early on Saturday morning.
They learnt how to make the gorgeous sugar flowers, Faye’s signature peony rose, her new carnation! The techniques and methods learnt were definitely priceless! We could see each student listening hard each time Faye demonstrated how to make those sugar flowers, grasping in as much as they could.
Today it was all about assembly. They learnt how to stack the elegant 3 tiers and assemble the sugar flowers they made. Students learnt how to achieve that shine on the top tier, with some very insightful techniques on applique & royal icing piping.

Thank you so much for a GREAT class. I’m sure each student here could not thank you enough for everything. Meeting you was awesome and we did have some good times during class and the whole KL sight-seeing! It was indeed a pleasure hosting you, we wish nothing but the best for your business! Keep growing and making those gorgeous edible creations of yours! You are an inspiration to many, thank you!
